About me

From a hobby to something more

Wood Enough started with a pretty simple idea: build rather than buy.

I'm Simon and I spend my working week behind a desk, so making things gives me the chance to do something completely different. There’s something hugely satisfying about having an idea, figuring out how to make it work, and ending up with something real at the end of it.

It started with things I made for myself and my family. Then people saw what I was building and started asking if I could make things for them too. What began as a hobby has gradually turned into a small side business alongside my day job.

Why “Wood Enough”?

I’m not a fine furniture maker or a traditional joiner, and I don’t pretend to be.

The name is a bit of a play on “good enough” — but that doesn’t mean cutting corners. I take pride in what I build and won’t make something for someone else that I wouldn’t be happy to have in my own home.

For me, it’s about making things that are practical, well built and made with genuine care.

Made for you, not for everyone

One of the things I like most about custom builds is that they don’t have to come off a production line.

Maybe you’ve seen something you like but it’s the wrong size. Maybe you need something to fit a particular space. Or perhaps you just have an idea, a sketch or a photo and want to know if it can be made.

That’s the kind of project I enjoy.

Every new project gives me another opportunity to make something useful, learn something along the way, and turn an idea into something real.

If you’ve got something in mind, get in touch. I’d love to hear about it.
